The main feature of Framlingham (only 5 miles away) is a 12th Century castle, which is the central point for a series of lovely country walks taking in the moat, a large wildlife mere, the traditional College grounds, fields, meandering streams and river. It includes a market square, cafe's, restaurants, pubs and a good supermarket.
The thriving town of Halesworth (9 miles), is on the way to the Southwold and Walberswick seaside resorts on the Suffolk Heritage Coast (20 miles).
Brundish is centrally placed providing easy access to both the coast and many other attractions in East Anglia.
Numerous pretty villages and attractions can be visited locally, including Saxtead Mill, Easton Farm Park, Helmingham Hall, and Framlingham castle.
The coast is only half an hour’s drive away. Southwold is a lovely example of a Victorian seaside town with a pier, beach huts and tea on the promenade. Walberswick has a long beach with sand dunes, and lots of crab dipping in the small harbour.
Historic ruins on the cliffs at Dunwich lead on to the nearby National Trust heather heath and the renowned Minsmere RSPB bird sanctuary. Several public hides are accessible from the beach, so bring your binoculars.
Aldeburgh and the Snape Maltings concert hall is the home of the famous Benjamin Britten music festivals. The Sutton Hoo archaeological site (near Woodbridge) is worth a visit for its stunning exhibition of the Anglo Saxon treasure and ship burial in the new visitors center.
Many places offer interesting activities for children, especially the Bressingham Steam Railway / Garden and plant Centre, and the tractor rides and farm animals at Easton Farm Park.
Framlingham Castle and the wildlife mere. Children can scramble freely around the impressive castle moat.
The beach at Southwold with it's long promenade of beach huts. It has a great pier, which includes a funny amusement arcade full of mechanisms designed by inventor Tim Hunkin
